John Leighton
Director
John has been with the company since June 1989 and has over 30 years experience in dealing with the needs of our individual clients. John is responsible for our corporate/major lender clients and Panel Managers. He is Chair of First Surveyors Scotland and member of several RICS Expert Working Groups.
Alan Crooks
Director
Alan joined the firm in October 1988 and opened our East Kilbride office in 1990. Covering a range of activities, his area of expertise is in the residential market, from producing Home Reports to negotiating land sale transactions.
Andrew MacFarlane
Director
Andrew is responsible for the Residential Department management within our Hamilton office. He qualified in 2003 and joined Whyte & Barrie in 2012. Andrew has extensive local knowledge and experience of the Lanarkshire property market having resided within the county all his life.
Gordon Turner
Director
Gordon joined Whyte & Barrie in 2003, following a period in the Construction industry. Based in the Hamilton office, he is experienced in the valuation of both Residential and Commercial Property across Lanarkshire and specialises in the provision of Home Reports. Gordon is responsible for the Quality Assurance and Auditing of the firm.

Craig Wilson
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Craig graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2012 with Honours and joined Whyte and Barrie in January 2016. Craig specialises in producing Home Reports and Mortgage/Buy2Let valuations for our private and corporate clients. Craig was promoted to Associate Director January 2023.
Scott Cameron
Commercial Agency Partner
Recruited in 1989 to set up Whyte & Barrie Commercial, the now well-known agency side of our busines, Scott became an Equity Partner in 1999 and has been responsible for the successful disposal of client’s property by lease or sale for over 30 years.
Andy Gray
Commercial
Andy is a Fellow of the RICS, having qualified in 1977. He joined Whyte & Barrie in 2016 and Heads our Commercial Valuation Department. Andy has an extensive knowledge and experience of valuing a wide variety of commercial, retail, office and industrial subjects throughout Scotland.
Calum Steven
Residential
Calum studied at Strathclyde and Heriot-Watt Universities before commencing professional training in 2005 and qualifying in 2008. Calum joined Whyte & Barrie in August 2017 and specialises in providing Home Reports and other types of valuation surveys in Lanarkshire and Glasgow for a wide variety of clients.
Gary MacDonald
Residential
Gary joined Whyte & Barrie in 2006 and, having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1997, is an RICS Registered Valuer with over 30 years experience in the residential property market throughout Lanarkshire and Glasgow.
